How to layer products

Ever wondered why hairdressers use so many products? Do you find it difficult to know which products work well together, and in what order? Well I'm here to help!

Blow dry balms or creams go on first as a heat protector. Going on first also means that they can penetrate deep into the hair shaft and hydrate your hair.

Other products like mousse or voluminising sprays go next to stay on the surface o the hair to give texture and volume. You can also use voluminising spray on your roots and then add mousse to the mid lengths to even out texture and give body. For thicker hair you might not need as much hold, but can use a smoothing serum or creme to control frizz and shape.

You can also cocktail products together to loosen up one that might be too sticky or firm up a more liquid product.

How to make your curls last longer

Make sure your hair is completely dry before you start. Prep your hair with a spritz of light hold hair spray

  1. Spray some dry shampoo at the roots if needed

  2. Smooth out with a brush

  3. Use a smaller wand if possible, and keep the temperature between 150-175 degrees. If it's too hot, the want won't glide smoothly and will straighten your hair instead of curling it.

  4. Leave your hair to cool completely before touching it. If one curl isn't how you like it, make sure it's cool before you try to redo it.

  5. Use hairspray to seal your hair when you're finished to prevent humidity making the curls drop.

I'm excited that the new K bond masque had finally arrive on Australian shores and is now available in the salon. Check it out here.
