Summer versus humidity.

Two questions I get asked at this time of the year are how to reduce frizz and how to prevent colour fade? The answer is using a powerful humidity blocker.

Using an anti humidity spray will help to prevent your fresh blowout or pristine flat-iron style go unprotected against rainy, humid weather. Humidity sprays are great for depositing an invisible, 24-hour shine-shield of frizz and static protection over all your hard work.

My favourite product to use is the Joico Humidity Blocker +. It’s an all-in-one frizz fighter, amped-up with a bit of hold, shine and protection against pollution, all while reducing static.

For the ultimate humidity blocking routine, follow these steps:

  • Keep your hair hydrated. Your hair is like a sponge and will absorb any moisture in the air if it is dehydrated. Treat your hair with a regular moisturizing mask or leave in creamy treatment to keep it fully hydrated. Many people these days use a strengthening plex, but to really fight humidity you need to use moisture as well. I recommend alternating a moisturizing mask with your plex treatment.

  • Double dry your hair. You’ve heard of double cleansing your skin, well double drying your hair can help protect against humidity! After you blow dry your hair smooth, leave it for 20 minutes and then go back over it with the hair dryer. Immediately after the second blow dry style your hair and then seal with hairspray or your humidity spray.
