Intelligent ageing
Are you looking to trim a few years off your look? Hair can be both ageing and de-ageing, depending on a few key decisions. Here are some of the key factors to take into consideration:
1. Colour
If you want to shave off a few years, I always recommend going a few shades lighter. Most women suit a lighter shade as they get older, whereas darker hair can be harsh on older skin tones. Because ageing skin often becomes paler, the rich black or chocolate colours that once suited you when you were younger, could now be washing out your skin. The best option is multi-tonal colour including highlights around the face to create a softer -and younger - look.
2. Cut and style
When it comes to your haircut and style, opt for a softer and more textured cut. I personally think it's a much quicker and more affordable option than getting a facelift! A textured cut will create more body and look so much more youthful than hair that hangs limp. This doesn't necessarily mean cutting your hair short - if you feel more attractive with longer hair, I can easily create a textured style for you while keeping the length.
3. Look after your hair health
Investing in quality products will help keep your hair looking younger, healthier and more manageable for day-to-day styling. A good quality conditioner and regular use of a nourishing hair mask will keep your hair in tip top condition. My favourite products for healthy hair are those in the Joico Youth Lock range. Harnessing the power of collagen and nourishing oils, the youth lock care products can bring back ageless body, bounce, shine and manageability to your hair!
